Priscilla Susan Bury’s Amaryllis platypetala comes from A Selection of Hexandrian Plants, Belonging to the Natural Orders Amaryllidæ and Liliacæ (1831–1834). The plate presents two vivid pink-red blooms above a prominent bulb, with long, arching leaves giving the composition a graceful vertical structure. Subtle shifts from rose to green and yellow within the petals add depth, while the open ground keeps the plant itself firmly in focus.
The measured presentation makes this work especially well suited to a grouping with other botanical plates from the series.
