This historical arabesque print is adapted from Émile Prisse d’Avennes’s 19th-century study of Islamic art and architecture in Cairo. The original plates were created through close observation and careful drawing, translating architectural ornament, tilework, and decorative surfaces into a detailed visual record. Rather than removing elements from the buildings themselves, Prisse and his collaborators recreated the designs for study, preserving their pattern, proportion, and color in print.
Title: Arabesques : faïences murales de Qasr Rodoun (XVIe siècle) : 1
Translation: Arabesques: Wall Tiles from Qasr Rodoun, 16th Century, Plate 1
This design brings together green, red, blue, and ivory in an elaborate arrangement of floral medallions, pointed forms, and interlacing ornament.
Each Endicott & Co. print is carefully prepared from historical source material, with the character and detail of the original preserved in the restoration. The artwork is thoughtfully proportioned and offered in standard frame sizes for straightforward display.
Materials: Archival matte paper, 230 gsm
Sizes refer to the unframed artwork. Each print includes a built-in border for a clean, matted look. No additional mat is required. Standard frame sizes fit easily. Framing will add to the final dimensions.
Frames and interiors are shown for context only.
