Maurice Pillard Verneuil’s Grenouilles et nénuphars, bordure; libellules, pochoir; poissons volants, libellules, bordures; milan et rat comes from L’Animal dans la Décoration (1897). The plate brings together several ornamental studies: frogs and water lilies in a narrow border, repeated dragonflies set against a warm coral ground, and flying fish moving through curling waves along the curved bands at left. Olive green, ochre, pale blue, and orange give the composition a distinctive, layered rhythm.
Each Endicott & Co. print is carefully prepared from historical source material, with the character and detail of the original preserved in the restoration. The artwork is thoughtfully proportioned and offered in standard frame sizes for straightforward display.
