Maurice Pillard Verneuil’s Poissons et algues, coq, écoinçon; paons et vigne; lièvres, chiens et ronces, bordure comes from L’Animal dans la Décoration (1897). The plate brings together several ornamental studies: fish and aquatic forms at the upper corners, peacocks moving through grapevines across the central arch, and a lower border of hares, dogs, and brambles. Its layered bands of animal and botanical imagery create a richly patterned composition with the strong outlines, repetition, and stylization associated with Art Nouveau design.
Each Endicott & Co. print is carefully prepared from historical source material, with the character and detail of the original preserved in the restoration. The artwork is thoughtfully proportioned and offered in standard frame sizes for straightforward display.
