Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s Rosa gallica comes from Traité des arbres et arbustes que l'on cultive en France en pleine terre. The plate presents a single flowering stem with a fully opened rose, developing buds, and carefully observed foliage against an open ground. Deep crimson-pink petals contrast with the muted greens of the leaves and stem, while the restrained composition keeps attention on the structure and character of the plant.

The open presentation makes this work especially well suited to a grouping with other botanical plates from the series.

Each Endicott & Co. print is carefully prepared from historical source material, with the character and detail of the original preserved in the restoration. The artwork is thoughtfully proportioned and offered in standard frame sizes for straightforward display.
